- SummaryThe Department of Theology and Philosophy at Barry University invites applicants for a full-time, continuing-contract position in Systematic Theology at the assistant professor level, beginning in August 2026.The in-person position requires the ability to teach graduate and undergraduate courses in Systematic Theology, to advise and mentor students, to engage in scholarly work, and to serve on departmental, college, and university committees.# Essential Functions* Responsibilities include a 3-3 undergraduate and graduate-level teaching load, including, but not limited to, introduction to theology, the Christian God, Christology, Pneumatology, Christianity and Culture, and related subjects at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The capacity to integrate these topics through a service-learning pedagogy is welcome. Active involvement in the department’s theological graduate programs and participation in the collegial and intellectual life of the university are required.* The position is open with regard to area of specialization, methodological commitments, and ecclesial location. However, competence in the Catholic theological tradition and the ability to correlate systematic theology with ministry are preferred.* Additional responsibilities include academic advising and mentoring with undergraduate and graduate students, supervision of thesis projects, departmental and college service, university service, community service, and sustained scholarship.# Qualifications* The position requires an earned Ph.D. in Theology.* Applicants are required to send their curriculum vitae, statement of intent, samples of publications and syllabi, and* three letters of recommendation from senior scholars to Jorge Presmanes, O.P., D.Min., Chair of the Search Committee at jpresmanes@barry.edu.Applications received by January 19, 2026, will receive full consideration.
