South Dakota Sierra Club Chapter is hiring!
The South Dakota Chapter Community Organizer (half-time, 20 hours/wk) will collaborate with volunteer leaders, staff, and coalition partners to set strategic priorities and fulfill the chapter’s grassroots organizing objectives. The Community Organizer will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing strategic grassroots engagement, education, and mobilization in alignment with the strategic priorities in the state. They will communicate priorities and benchmarks, provide leadership, and represent the Sierra Club to media, community leaders, coalitions, allies, and the public. Professional and/or lived experience in South Dakota strongly preferred. Valid driver’s license, satisfactory driving record, and proof of auto insurance required. Job activities include but are not limited to developing strong Sierra Club volunteer teams and committees and presence with a focus on the Sioux Falls area; collaborating in developing organizing strategies; maintaining and developing new partnerships with affinity groups who may share common goals and values; representing Sierra Club to the public and in the media; supporting Chapter communications; and being able to travel as needed.
