Job Title: Machinist
Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Machinist to set up and operate conventional and special purpose machines to fabricate metallic parts. This role requires a strong understanding of machine shop theory, procedures, shop mathematics, and layout techniques.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate machines by interpreting blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, and specifications.
• Determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces and sequence of operations.
• Mark and scribe dimensions and reference points on materials as guides for machining.
• Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, and other machine attachments.
• Calculate and set controls for machining factors such as speed, feed, and coolant flow.
• Start and observe machine operations, adjusting controls to address malfunctions.
• Verify dimensions using measuring instruments like micrometers and gauge blocks.
• Develop specifications and sketches for parts or products as needed.
• Collaborate with engineers and production personnel to resolve machining problems.
• Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
• Perform preventive maintenance and document work shift activities.

• 1-2 years of manufacturing experience.
• Proficiency in CNC equipment program editing.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Strong blueprint reading skills for grinding diameters and shapes.
• Capability to grind parts to specified tolerances using measuring devices.
• Physical ability to routinely lift 50 lbs or more.
• Comfortable working in narrow spaces and performing physical tasks such as climbing and kneeling.

• Experience with blueprint interpretation and CNC programming.
• Understanding of machinability of materials and layout techniques.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering and production teams.
