JOB SUMMARY


The Instructional Student Assistant (ISA) classification is distinguished from other Student Assistant classifications by the nature of work performed. The majority of work performed in a given appointment within the Department of Psychology over the course of an academic term by Instructional Student Assistants is tutoring, grading and/or teaching work while the other Student Assistants perform other duties including clerical, technical, custodial, laborer or other work as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS


Admission and currently registered as a CSU student.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Incumbents must possess the ability to learn and perform assigned work; work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and other students; and accept responsibility. Completion of specific coursework may be required in order to teach, grade or tutor a course.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Evidence of the ability to work closely with the faculty supervisor to complete the required tasks for the specific position.

The person holding this position is considered a 'mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The Department of Psychology is one of the largest departments at CSUSB, with 26 full-time and 26 part-time faculty, approximately 100 graduate students, and 1500 undergraduate students. The department offers one undergraduate major in Psychology with three formal concentrations - General Psychology, Biological Psychology and Industrial-Organizational Psychology. In addition, the department houses three master's programs: Clinical/Counseling Psychology, Psychological Science, and Industrial-Organizational Psychology. We offer the entire major at both the San Bernardino and Palm Desert campuses. In its annual list of America's Best Colleges, USNEWS and World Report recognizes psychology as one of CSUSB's highly respected academic departments.
