Seasonal Admission Application Reader Pitzer College is seeking Seasonal Admission Application Readers to review and assess first‑year applicants for the class of 2030. Candidates must grasp the principles of a liberal arts education and Pitzer’s core values to identify students who align with and would benefit from our educational approach. The role requires the skill to analyze academic transcripts, recommendation letters, personal statements, and other application materials to provide informed admission recommendations. Application reading training, conducted virtually, equips readers to work remotely. Readers must reside in the United States. Location Claremont, CA (remote). Readers must have a reliable secure computer and internet connection and a suitable workstation at remote location. Department & Supervisor Office of Admission – Supervisor: Director of Admission. Essential Functions Thoroughly read, evaluate, and recommend admission decisions on highly competitive applications. Meet all internal deadlines by maintaining a regular reading schedule. Actively practice awareness of personal biases when evaluating student applications, keeping Pitzer’s institutional priorities, goals, and core values in mind. Maintain a high level of confidentiality with student information. Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Must be conscientious, proactive, self‑motivated, and a positive team member. Attention to detail, especially as it pertains to the holistic review of application materials. Understanding of a liberal arts education. Experience and professionalism handling sensitive and confidential information. Strong written skills, time management, and sound judgment. Strong leadership and collaboration skills with a commitment to a team‑based work environment. Natural aptitude for technology and expertise with MS Office, including expert level use of Excel. Ability to problem‑solve and use analytical skills to develop and implement creative solutions. Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail. Ability to take initiative to work proactively, meet deadlines, organize and prioritize multiple projects, think strategically, and work with numbers and data. Exhibit personal integrity and ability to appropriately handle confidential and sensitive information. Exhibit a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and sound professional judgment. Education & Experience Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution is required. Previous experience in College Admission, College Counseling, or college admission application reading is preferred. Must not be currently employed in another college’s admission office during the duration of work with Pitzer College. Employment Details Time Type: Part‑time, up to 15 hours per week. Temporary position from December 1 2025 to March 6 2026. All hours except December 22 2025 – January 2 2026 (Winter Break) are available for reading. Work model: Remote. Compensation & Benefits Starting Pay Rate: $22.00–$23.00 per hour. Employment Requirements Employment is contingent upon U.S. citizenship or valid work authorization. All new hires must provide documentation verifying citizenship or work authorization. Background investigation, physical lift test, and pulmonary function test may be required. Candidates who require the use of a college‑owned vehicle must have an acceptable driving record.
