Job Description

POSITION OVERVIEW

• Operate thermoforming equipment in a safe and efficient manner, adhering to company policies/processes and customer specifications
• Coordinate daily activities of an assigned machine production team consisting of Assistants and Packers, with a focus on safety, quality, and optimizing productivity, scrap, and downtime
• Assist Supervisor, Team Leader, and Lead Operator in coaching and training employees

DUTIES

• Follow all safety and 5S guidelines - ensure work area remains clean and organized at all times
• Promote others to work in a safe manner
• Act responsibly with equipment and property of the company and employees
• Effectively work within BMS, including reading schedules, entering and maintaining accurate operational data (machine status and materials management - inputs and outputs, both finished goods and scrap)
• Perform all duties pertaining to the operation of a thermoforming machine to produce finished goods in a safe and cost effective manner, which includes coordination of assigned support staff (Assistants and Packers), taking appropriate measures to minimize downtime, and conducting efficient changeovers using best practices and processes
• Take appropriate measures to ensure all products are completed to production, quality, and technical specifications. Confirm acceptable levels are achieved/sustained by conducting and documenting QA testing & inspections using various fixtures and equipment.
• Keep Supervisor/Team Leader/Lead Operator informed of critical issues which affect safety, quality, and production levels
• Conduct production problem solving and troubleshooting, both independently and in partnership with Team Leader/Supervisor/Process Engineering/Maintenance support
• Maintain tool boards, machine boards, audits, check sheets, etc.
• Assist in giving scheduled breaks and lunches for the production crews on your machine
• Complete certification by successful completion of Thermoforming Operator Job Training Outline and Skills Assessment
• Serve as trainer/coach resource for production staff
• Perform any task as directed by Supervisor or Team Leader to support other plant operations
• Comply with and support enforcement of all policies and procedures, e.g., work rules, quality, GMP, Food Safety, etc.
• Support Kaizen Events and/or other continuous improvement and cost savings initiatives

SKILLS AND JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Demonstrated ability to operate thermoforming equipment
• Effective interpersonal and oral and written communication skills

• Conduct self and lead others in alignment with Amcor Core Values, maintaining professional conduct and leading by good example
  • Ability to direct/coordinate team members in achievement of daily production goals in a manner to promote teamwork and a positive work environment
  • Certified as an of Assistant Thermoforming Operator through successful completion of Job Training Outline and Skills Assessment

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Will be required to manipulate shafts up to 70 pounds into rolls
• Will be required to install and secure forming and trimming tools
• Ability to work standing for 12 hour shift
• Able to withstand heat
