Job Description

The Keene Family YMCA is looking to grow its Youth and Teen department! If you enjoy guiding and mentoring children and teens through structured activities designed to promote healthy activities and positive social interactions, then this could be the perfect job for you. In this part-time role, you will support and instruct a variety of programs at the YMCA in a safe, enjoyable, culturally aware, and positive environment that promotes youth development, social responsibility, and healthy living in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures. Programs you will engage in could include any that the YMCA offers such as Gymnastics, Fitness, Physical Education, Swimming, and more.

Program areas may include Gymnastics, Ninja, Fitness, PE, Teens, Climbing, Aquatics, Arts and Humanities, Membership, Childcare and School Age Programs.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Builds personal and meaningful relationships with YMCA members, participants, volunteers, and guests while exemplifying the Y's commitment to the four-character values of caring, honesty, respect & responsibility.
  2. Responds to all member and community inquiries in a timely manner.
  3. Leads energizing, fun, culturally aware, safe, and educational programs as directed by the supervisor, to accomplish the YMCA mission and goals.
  4. Help to establish new program activities and expand programs in Y youth sports, youth, and teen programs with a focus on youth development and healthy living in accordance with strategic operating plans.
  5. Participates in staff meetings and/or related meetings.
  6. Upholds all YMCA policies, procedures, standards, and code of conduct.
  7. Be self-motivated and can work independently or as a team member.

Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


Meets 80% to 100% of the following qualifications:
  1. 1-2 years related experience working with youth in a recreation setting or similar
  2. Ability to perform duties with professionalism, enthusiasm, kindness, empathy, care, honesty, and respect.
  3. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
PREFERED LEVEL QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. 5+ years of experience working with youth.
  2. Must have had coaching or teaching experience.
